Pilgrim Post is a four-week program for children & youth (and their parents!) that introduces the foundations of the Christian faith in a way that is calm, hopeful, and easy to understand. Think of it as a guided “walk-through” of what Christians believe, why it matters, and how we live it—centered on Scripture, shaped by the church’s historic teaching, and taught in a kid-friendly way.
Who it’s for (right now): Pilgrim Post is currently offered for 3rd through 5th graders.
Coming later: We plan to expand Pilgrim Post for youth (6th–12th grade) in the future once an older curriculum is developed.
Each week includes Bible storytelling, a short teaching time, discussion, and activities that help kids connect faith to everyday life. The goal isn’t to pressure children into “grown-up answers,” but to help them grow honest, meaningful language for faith—repentance, trust in Jesus, belonging to the church, hope in resurrection, and God’s promise to set things right.
A note about baptism
If a child expresses interest in baptism, Pilgrim Post includes a gentle, supportive readiness conversation with a pastor/leader (and parent/guardian as appropriate). This isn’t a test—it’s a caring way to make sure the child understands what baptism means and is choosing it freely and thoughtfully.
Pilgrim Journey
At First Baptist Church, we believe baptism is only the beginning of our journey as children of God — not the endpoint. For that reason, we also engage our children & youth in a program called Pilgrim Journey, which helps to kick start them into their journey as newly baptized followers of our Lord Jesus Christ.
