No way! We’ve been burned by products and ideas like that before, too.
We will be playing real, honest to goodness Dungeons and Dragons, using the 2014 ruleset, commonly called 5th edition or 5E.
-
Absolutely not! Experienced players are obviously welcome, but total novices are, too. We’ll take plenty of time to teach newbies how to play.
-
Everyone is welcome to bring their favorite D&D tools from home if they have some, but all supplies (including, but not limited to, pencils, paper, dice, maps, handouts, props, and one custom miniature!) are included in your registration fee and will be provided to you.
-
Nope! While we will spend a lot of time engaged in playing D&D, we want to engage your whole selves at camp. Planned activities include yoga/stretching/movement, daily prayer, painting, prop-making, film screenings, field trips, and more!

The exact details of this year’s adventure are still in development, but rest assured that your DMs hope to give you a thrilling experience packed with classic D&D goodness (and, hopefully, even a satisfying conclusion!)

We are fortunate to have a handful of bunkrooms right inside the church building! Campers will be sleeping one floor up from the main gameplay space, under the watchful care of trained, vetted, background-checked adult volunteers.
Meet the Dungeon Masters
A fascinating blend of narrator, coach, referee, and actor, Dungeon Masters (or DMs) have the unique task of setting the scene for the players, understanding their actions, and then determining how the world of the game responds to those actions. Our DMs bring a wealth of experience (both in D&D and in life), and can’t wait to help you embark on this particular adventure!

Pastor/DMEven though Aaron is a lifelong nerd, D&D is a relatively new passion for him. After some virtual experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic, Aaron attended a D&D-themed retreat for clergy in the woods of Minnesota in 2022 and he’s been hooked ever since. As a DM, Aaron is passionate about story and roleplay, and he has a soft spot for fun/unusual character/class combos (ask him about his giant Loxodon dance bard some time).

Co-DM/D&D Encyclopedia
Silas Thomas has been playing imagination games since he was old enough to know what they were. Then he found out you can give them rules and he was instantly hooked. Silas has been playing D&D and other RPGs for seven years and has been running games for five years. His D&D accomplishments include the holy grail of dungeon mastering: actually finishing a long-term campaign! When not playing in his current campaigns, Silas can be found enjoying video game soundtracks alongside a cup of hot coffee, or singing in the choir at First Christian Church.
